Whether you’re training for a specific goal, or just trying to live your best lifestyle, protein should be a dietary staple especially on a plant-based diet. It’s essential for muscle growth and repair, it keeps you full, and also helps to boost your metabolism.

Ideally, every meal you eat should contain at least some protein, so you can hit the recommended amount per day.

For vegetarians and vegans, reaching that level of protein intake without consuming a whole lot of carbs and calories can be hard. Luckily there are some great plant-based protein powders available that make getting enough protein much easier than it used to be. You can mix your protein powder with water or almond milk for simplicity, but to prevent boredom, it’s great to try out some high protein smoothies.

High protein smoothies are the ultimate in health food convenience. No cooking required, ready in less than a minute, and even the washing up doesn’t take long. They also taste awesome. All you need is your Blessed protein powder, some fruit, a source of healthy fat, and some natural flavorings and you are good to go. With just a handful of ingredients you can create an almost infinite number of different recipes. Add some crushed ice if you want a thicker, creamier smoothie. To save you from having to invent your own, here are five tried and tested recipes to try.

This combination of ingredients is so delicious, it borders on decadence! Perfect as a morning pick-me-up, or in place of an unhealthy dessert. The avocado also makes it super-creamy. Make sure you use a ripe avocado as unripe ones can be bitter and harder to blend.

1 scoop Blessed Choc Coconut

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

¼ avocado

½ banana, chopped and frozen

1 tbsp cacao powder
